Terms of Service

Minimum Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Riftbinder. This requirement complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar international regulations.

If you are between 13 and 17 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Service and they must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

Legal Capacity

By using our Service, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Geographic Restrictions

The Service is intended for users worldwide. However, we reserve the right to restrict access from certain jurisdictions if required by law or business considerations.

Account Creation

To access certain features, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

One Account Per Person

You may only create one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent feature limits, subscription tiers, or other restrictions is strictly prohibited and may result in account termination.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We use industry-standard security measures, but cannot guarantee absolute security. You agree to:

• Use a strong, unique password
• Never share your account credentials
• Report any security breaches immediately to info@riftbinder.com

Account Transfer & Selling

You may not transfer, sell, or otherwise dispose of your account to any other person or entity. Any attempt to do so will result in immediate account termination.

Core Features

• Deck Builder: Create, edit, and manage deck lists for Riftbound TCG with format validation and deck statistics
• Collection Manager: Track your card collection, including quantities, condition notes, and acquisition dates
• AI Card Scanner: Upload or capture images of Riftbound cards for automatic identification using Google Cloud Vision AI and Gemini models. Images are processed in real-time and immediately deleted after analysis. Scan quotas apply based on subscription tier.
• Card Database: Browse and search all Riftbound TCG cards with official Riot Games data and imagery
• Community Features: Access news, meta analysis, event coverage, and competitive insights
• Marketplace: Buy and sell Riftbound TCG cards through our peer-to-peer marketplace, with secure payment processing and buyer protection

Subscription Tiers

We offer three subscription tiers with different feature limits:

Important Note

Riftbinder is a companion platform for Riftbound TCG. We do not provide gameplay functionality, automated rule enforcement, or skill-based matchmaking. The Service is designed for deck building, collection management, and community engagement only.

Free Tier

Our free tier provides basic access to Riftbinder's core features with usage limits as described above. No payment information is required for free accounts.

Paid Subscriptions

Starter and Pro subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

• Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.
• Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days advance notice via email. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.
• Taxes: Prices include all applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax, etc.), which are automatically calculated by Stripe based on your location.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the Stripe Customer Portal. Upon cancellation:

• You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period
• Your account will automatically downgrade to the Free tier at the end of the period
• No further charges will be made after the current period ends
• Your data (decks, collections) will be preserved but subject to free tier limits

Refund Policy

EU Consumer Right of Withdrawal: If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, unless you have already begun using the paid features.

General Refund Policy: Outside of the EU 14-day period, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. We may offer pro-rated refunds at our discretion for:

• Extended service outages affecting your use
• Billing errors or duplicate charges
• Other exceptional circumstances

To request a refund, contact us at info@riftbinder.com with your account details and reason for the refund request.

Failed Payments

If a payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, etc.), we will attempt to retry the charge and notify you via email. If payment is not received within 7 days, your account will be downgraded to the Free tier and you may lose access to paid features.

Peer-to-Peer Marketplace

Riftbinder operates a peer-to-peer marketplace where users can buy and sell Riftbound TCG cards directly with each other. Important: You are not buying from Riftbinder. We are not the seller of marketplace items and do not take possession of cards listed for sale.

Your transaction is with the seller, not Riftbinder. When you purchase a card:

• The seller is responsible for accurate descriptions, condition grading, and shipping
• The seller is your primary point of contact for order questions and shipment tracking
• We facilitate payment processing and provide dispute resolution support, but we are not a party to the sale

Shipping and Delivery Communication:

• Sellers should respond to buyer inquiries within 72 hours
• If a seller doesn't respond within 72 hours, or if you cannot agree on a solution to a shipping/delivery issue, please contact our customer support at info@riftbinder.com
• If you and the seller reach a mutual agreement on any issue, we will honor that agreement

This peer-to-peer structure is similar to other collectibles marketplaces (e.g., Cardmarket, TCGplayer). Riftbinder provides the platform technology, payment processing, and customer support, but individual users are responsible for their sales and purchases.

Eligibility to Use Marketplace

To Buy on the Marketplace:

• You must have a verified email address
• You must provide a valid shipping address
• You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
• You must have a valid payment method accepted by Stripe

To Sell on the Marketplace:

• You must meet all buyer requirements listed above
• You must complete Stripe Connect onboarding (including identity verification)
• You must provide accurate tax information as required by your jurisdiction
• You must comply with all applicable laws regarding sales of goods

Platform Fees and Pricing

The platform fee charged by Riftbinder is VAT-inclusive where we are required to charge VAT. Card prices set by sellers are determined by the seller and do not include Riftbinder's platform fee or VAT on that fee.

For Buyers:

• The price you see is the final price you pay (card price + shipping + any applicable taxes)
• There are no hidden fees or additional charges at checkout
• Platform fees are already included in the seller's listing price

For Sellers:

• Riftbinder charges a platform fee on each sale (details available in your seller dashboard)
• This platform fee is inclusive of VAT where Riftbinder is required to charge VAT
• The platform fee is automatically deducted from your payout

Tax Obligations:

• Sellers are solely responsible for determining, reporting, and paying all applicable taxes related to their marketplace sales, including but not limited to VAT registration, income tax, sales tax, and any other tax obligations required by their local jurisdiction. Riftbinder does not provide tax advice and sellers should consult with a tax professional regarding their obligations.
• Buyers pay the final price shown (taxes included where applicable). If additional taxes apply based on your location, they will be calculated at checkout
• Riftbinder may be required to collect and remit VAT or sales tax on behalf of sellers in certain jurisdictions, in accordance with applicable law

Payment Processing and Payouts

Payment Provider:

• All marketplace transactions are processed through Stripe Connect
• By using the marketplace, you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and Services Agreement
• Stripe may collect additional information for identity verification and fraud prevention

Payment Hold and Escrow:

• When a buyer completes a purchase, payment is held in escrow by Riftbinder until delivery is confirmed
• Funds are released to the seller when:
  • The buyer confirms delivery, OR
  • The seller submits a payout claim after the order is delivered (subject to admin approval)
• This protects both buyers (ensures delivery) and sellers (ensures payment)

Seller Payouts:

• Payouts are automatically transferred to your connected Stripe account after funds are released
• Stripe typically processes payouts within 2-7 business days, depending on your bank
• You are responsible for any bank fees associated with receiving payouts
• Minimum payout amount may apply based on your location and currency

Payout Claims for Unconfirmed Deliveries:

• If a buyer has not confirmed receipt of an order within 14 days of shipment, sellers may submit a payout claim to request early release of escrowed funds
• Upon receiving a payout claim, Riftbinder will attempt to contact the buyer to confirm delivery
• If the buyer does not respond to our contact attempts within 7 days, we reserve the right to approve the payout claim and release funds to the seller
• This policy protects sellers from indefinite payment holds when buyers fail to confirm receipt
• Buyers are encouraged to confirm delivery promptly to avoid administrative delays

Chargebacks and Disputes:

• Buyers may initiate chargebacks through their payment provider (bank or card issuer)
• Sellers may be required to provide evidence to contest chargebacks
• Fraudulent chargeback activity may result in account suspension
• Riftbinder reserves the right to deduct chargeback fees from seller accounts

Seller Responsibilities

As a seller, you agree to:

Listing Accuracy:

• Provide accurate and truthful descriptions of all listed cards
• Use the correct condition grade (Mint, Near Mint, Excellent, Good, Played, Poor)
• Disclose any defects, damage, or alterations
• Use clear, recent photos that accurately represent the card's condition
• Not list counterfeit, altered, or stolen cards

Pricing and Availability:

• Set reasonable prices (Stripe minimum transaction amounts apply)
• Keep listing quantities accurate and up-to-date
• Honor the price and terms shown at the time of purchase
• Not artificially inflate prices or engage in price manipulation

Shipping and Fulfillment:

• Ship orders within 3 business days of receiving the order notification
• Use appropriate packaging to protect cards during shipping
• Provide tracking information when available
• Respond to buyer inquiries about shipping within 72 hours
• Ship only to the address provided at checkout (no address changes after payment)

Communication:

• Respond to buyer messages within 72 hours
• Maintain professional and respectful communication
• Resolve disputes in good faith
• Not provide false tracking information or shipping confirmations

Compliance:

• Comply with all applicable laws regarding the sale of goods
• Maintain records of sales for tax purposes
• Not engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices
• Not use the marketplace for money laundering or other illegal activities

Prohibited Items:

• Counterfeit or fake cards
• Stolen property
• Cards obtained through fraudulent means
• Items prohibited by Riot Games' Terms of Service
• Items prohibited by applicable law

Buyer Responsibilities

As a buyer, you agree to:

Payment:

• Provide valid payment information
• Complete payment for orders you place
• Not initiate fraudulent chargebacks
• Contact the seller or Riftbinder support before disputing charges

Communication:

• Respond to seller messages regarding your order in a timely manner
• Provide accurate shipping information
• Notify the seller of any issues within a reasonable timeframe

Delivery Confirmation:

• Confirm delivery once you receive your order in satisfactory condition
• If there are issues, contact the seller within 7 days of delivery
• Provide evidence (photos, etc.) if claiming an item is not as described

Good Faith:

• Inspect items promptly upon receipt
• Resolve disputes honestly and in good faith
• Not abuse the refund or dispute process

Order Cancellation and Refunds

Before Shipment:

• Sellers may cancel orders before shipping if the item is no longer available
• Buyers will receive a full refund for cancelled orders
• Buyers may request cancellation before shipment by contacting the seller

After Shipment:

• Buyers may request a refund if:
  • Item is not as described
  • Item arrives damaged (and not due to shipping carrier)
  • Item is counterfeit
• Refund requests must be made within 7 days of delivery
• Buyers and sellers are encouraged to resolve issues directly
• If no resolution is reached within 72 hours, contact Riftbinder support

Refund Process:

• Approved refunds are processed through Stripe and typically take 5-10 business days to appear
• Return shipping costs are typically the buyer's responsibility unless the item was not as described
• Sellers may require the item to be returned before issuing a refund

Dispute Resolution

Dispute Process:

1. Direct Resolution (Required First Step): Buyers and sellers must attempt to resolve issues directly through messages. Most issues can be resolved this way.
2. Seller Response Time: If the seller does not respond within 72 hours, the buyer may escalate to Riftbinder support.
3. Riftbinder Mediation: If you cannot reach an agreement within 72 hours of the initial complaint, contact support@riftbinder.com with:
   • Order number
   • Description of the issue
   • Evidence (photos, messages, etc.)
   • Your proposed resolution
4. Platform Decision: Riftbinder will review the evidence and make a final decision. We may:
   • Facilitate a partial refund
   • Require a return and full refund
   • Rule in favor of the seller if the complaint is unfounded
   • Take action against users who abuse the dispute process
5. Honoring Agreements: If you and the seller reach a solution on your own, inform us and we will honor that agreement.

Banned Dispute Activities:

• Filing false claims or providing false evidence
• Abusing chargebacks or disputes to receive free items
• Harassing sellers or buyers
• Demanding unreasonable resolutions

Prohibited Marketplace Conduct

In addition to the general Prohibited Conduct section, marketplace users may not:

Fraud and Manipulation:

• Create fake listings or sham transactions
• Coordinate with other users to manipulate prices
• Leave fake reviews or ratings (when implemented)
• Use multiple accounts to circumvent seller restrictions
• Engage in wash trading or self-dealing

Counterfeit and Stolen Goods:

• Sell counterfeit, fake, or proxy cards
• Sell stolen property
• Sell items obtained through fraudulent means

Shipping Fraud:

• Provide false tracking information
• Ship empty packages or incorrect items
• Fail to ship after receiving payment
• Intercept or redirect packages after shipping

Payment Fraud:

• Use stolen payment methods
• Initiate fraudulent chargebacks
• Engage in money laundering
• Evade tax obligations

Violation of marketplace-specific rules may result in:

• Immediate account suspension
• Forfeiture of funds in escrow
• Permanent ban from the marketplace
• Referral to law enforcement if illegal activity is suspected

Marketplace Disclaimers

AS-IS TRANSACTIONS:

Riftbinder provides the marketplace platform but is not a party to transactions between buyers and sellers. Riftbinder makes no warranties regarding:

• The accuracy of listing descriptions
• The condition or authenticity of items
• The behavior or reliability of buyers or sellers
• The success of any particular transaction

NO GUARANTEE OF AVAILABILITY:

We do not guarantee that any particular card will be available for sale, or that any sale will be completed successfully.

SELLER VERIFICATION:

While we require Stripe Connect identity verification for sellers, we do not guarantee the trustworthiness or reliability of any seller.

BUYER PROTECTION:

Our payment hold system and dispute resolution process are designed to protect buyers, but we cannot guarantee that all disputes will be resolved in your favor.

SHIPPING SERVICES DISCLAIMER:

Riftbinder does not provide, arrange, or guarantee any shipping, tracking, or insurance services. Important points to understand:

• All shipping rate tables and tier suggestions displayed on our platform are reference pricing only, based on typical carrier rates
• Sellers are solely responsible for selecting carriers, packaging methods, and shipping options
• Riftbinder does not handle, ship, track, or insure any packages
• We are not liable for lost, damaged, delayed, or untracked shipments
• Tracking and insurance options, if available, are provided by the seller's chosen carrier, not Riftbinder

By purchasing items on the marketplace, you acknowledge and accept that shipping arrangements are between you and the seller, and that Riftbinder's shipping suggestions are informational only.

Marketplace Modifications and Termination

Right to Modify:

We reserve the right to:

• Modify platform fees (with advance notice to active sellers)
• Change marketplace policies and procedures
• Add or remove features
• Restrict access to the marketplace for specific users or regions

Right to Terminate Access:

We may suspend or terminate your marketplace access (buying, selling, or both) for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Excessive disputes or chargebacks
• Fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Low seller performance metrics (when implemented)
• Failure to comply with legal requirements

Effect of Termination:

• Active orders must be fulfilled or refunded
• Funds in escrow will be handled according to the status of each order
• Access to marketplace history will be preserved for legal and tax purposes

Your Content Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to content you create on Riftbinder, including:

• Deck lists you create
• Collection data and notes
• Images you upload for AI card scanning
• Comments and community contributions

License Grant to Riftbinder

By posting content on our Service, you grant Riftbinder a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Display your public decks and profiles to other users
• Store and back up your data on our servers
• Process and analyze uploaded images using third-party AI services (Google Cloud Vision AI, Gemini) for the sole purpose of card identification
• Create aggregated, anonymized statistics (e.g., "most popular decks")
• Reproduce content as necessary to provide the Service

This license terminates when you delete the content or your account, except for content that has been shared with or used by other users in accordance with these Terms. Uploaded images are processed in real-time and immediately deleted after analysis—we do not store your images.

Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for the content you post. You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to the content you upload, including all images submitted to the AI Card Scanner
• Your content does not violate any third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy, etc.)
• Uploaded images contain only Riftbound cards for their intended scanning purpose and do not include copyrighted material belonging to others (except Riftbound cards), faces of identifiable people without consent, or any material that violates privacy rights
• Your content does not contain malware, spam, or illegal material
• Your content complies with all applicable laws and regulations
• You take full responsibility for the legality, appropriateness, and compliance of all uploaded images

Content Moderation

While we do not actively monitor all user content, we reserve the right to remove or modify any content that violates these Terms, is reported by users, or is deemed inappropriate. We have no obligation to monitor user content but may do so at our discretion.

Riot Games Assets

All Riftbound TCG card data, images, names, artwork, and related assets displayed on Riftbinder are the exclusive property of Riot Games, Inc. We use these assets under license from Riot Games' Developer API program.

Riftbound, League of Legends, Riot Games, and all associated logos and designs are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc. You may not use these marks without express written permission from Riot Games.

Riftbinder Platform

The Riftbinder website, software, design, graphics, code, and all other elements of the Service (excluding Riot Games assets and user content) are owned by Riftbinder and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Limited License to Users

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute our software or content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
• Remove copyright or trademark notices
• Use our trademarks or branding without permission
• Create derivative works based on the Service

DMCA Copyright Policy

We respect intellectual property rights and comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content on our Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at info@riftbinder.com with:

• Identification of the copyrighted work
• Location of the infringing material on our Service
• Your contact information
• A statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized
• A statement that your notification is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

Firebase (Google Cloud Platform)

We use Firebase for authentication, database, storage, and hosting. Firebase is subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Stripe

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. By using paid subscriptions, you agree to Stripe's Services Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Riot Games API

We retrieve card data from Riot Games' official API. Our use of the API is governed by Riot's Developer Terms of Service.

Important: We do not share your personal information with Riot Games unless you explicitly connect your Riot account (planned for future releases).

Third-Party Liability

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services. Any issues with third-party services should be directed to those providers. However, if a third-party service failure affects your use of Riftbinder, please contact us and we will do our best to assist.

No Official Endorsement

Riftbinder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Riot Games. This Service is an independent, fan-created platform designed to support the Riftbound TCG community.

Riftbinder isn't endorsed by Riot Games and doesn't reflect the views or opinions of Riot Games or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Riot Games properties. Riot Games, and all associated properties are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.

API Usage Compliance

Riftbinder complies with Riot Games' API Terms of Service and Developer Policies. We:

• Use only official Riot API data and assets
• Display official English card text without modification
• Do not provide automated gameplay or rule enforcement
• Do not offer skill-based matchmaking or organized play
• Do not use in-app advertising for monetization
• Provide analysis and interpretation of meta data, not raw metagame data

User Compliance

By using Riftbinder, you agree not to engage in any activities that would violate Riot Games' Terms of Service, Developer Policies, or intellectual property rights. Any such violations may result in account termination.

No Guarantee of Uptime

While we strive to provide reliable, uninterrupted service, we do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or will be error-free. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

Maintenance & Updates

We reserve the right to perform scheduled maintenance and updates. When possible, we will provide advance notice of planned downtime. Emergency maintenance may occur without notice.

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

Third-Party Dependencies

Our Service depends on third-party services (Firebase, Riot Games API, etc.). If these services experience outages or changes, Riftbinder functionality may be affected. We are not responsible for third-party service availability.

No Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riftbinder disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
• Warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the Service
• Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Warranties regarding results obtained from using the Service

Data Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate card data from the Riot Games API, we do not warrant that all information is complete, current, or error-free. Card prices, if displayed, are estimates and not guaranteed to reflect actual market values.

User Content Disclaimer

We do not endorse, warrant, or guarantee any user-generated content (decks, comments, etc.). User content reflects the opinions of individual users, not Riftbinder.

Consumer Rights Preservation

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law, including EU consumer protection regulations and German consumer law (BGB).

Exclusion of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RIFTBINDER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

You acknowledge and agree that you use the Service entirely at your own risk. Riftbinder provides the Service on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis and expressly disclaims all liability for any harm or damage arising from your use of the Service.

Exclusion of Consequential Damages

In no event shall Riftbinder be liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
• Loss or corruption of user data or content
• Cost of substitute goods or services
• Personal injury or property damage arising from your use of the Service

Exceptions to Limitations

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including:

• Liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence
• Liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
• Liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct
• Any other liability that cannot be excluded under German or EU law

Basis of the Bargain

The limitations and exclusions in this section reflect a reasonable allocation of risk between you and Riftbinder and form an essential basis of the bargain. The Service would not be provided without these limitations.

Governing Law

These Terms and any disputes arising from or relating to the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Jurisdiction

Any legal action or proceeding arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Germany. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objection to venue.

EU Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer located in the European Union, you retain the benefit of any mandatory provisions of the consumer protection law in your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a legal claim, we encourage you to contact us at info@riftbinder.com to seek an informal resolution. We are committed to resolving disputes fairly and promptly.

Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at info@riftbinder.com or through your account settings. Upon termination, your subscription will be cancelled and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Termination by Riftbinder

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service, without notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
• Extended periods of inactivity
• Failure to pay subscription fees
• Requests by law enforcement or government agencies
• Circumstances beyond our control (force majeure)

Effect of Termination

Upon termination of your account:

• Your right to access and use the Service immediately ceases
• We will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except as required by law
• Public content you created (decks, comments) may remain visible but will be anonymized
• No refunds will be provided for partial subscription periods, except as required by law

Survival

The following sections survive termination: User-Generated Content, Intellectual Property Rights, Disclaimers & Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution & Governing Law, and General Provisions.

We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms at any time to reflect changes in our Service, legal requirements, or business practices. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes.
